I’ve just finished working on new photographs.
I took these in 2008 and somehow they waited until this evening when i suddenly had this clarity in my mind that: yes they must be in colour. The light that morning was so nice and warm it adds up to those imagesand reminds me of Saul Leiter. And all the stories in those images… mmmm…

Just finished reading this one:

so bought these:

and now can’t decide which one to read first. They’re both sitting on my sofa and waiting.
Helmut Newton’s autobiography is one of the best books i’ve read. It’s amazing what this man went through, how self obsessed he was and how he could simply admit all his faults!
Berenice Abbott i’ve found few years ago and now it’s time to learn more about her. The only thing i know are her stunning photographs and that she liked to wear woolen hats.
Leni Riefenstahl is a legend - for good and bad reasons… i’ve decided i want to find out more about her life.
Ok, i’ll start with Berenice.

I got a small book with Saul Leiter’s photographs and for the past 2 weeks i carry it with me every day. Completely bewitched by his street photography. Fantastic colours (Hopper’s style), sometimes very surprising composition - as if the subject was just about to leave the frame… and it had the most surprising effect on me: for the first time in MANY years i started to think with vertical frame! Working with film makes me think horizontal but vertical is an equally good format for story telling!

There’s finally a set of photographs i took when me, mama and dad went to visit the farm where i used to spend the coolest summer holidays. Doesn’t look the same anymore…

There’s also a brand new set with my LOMOgraphs on Flickr. This one will grow very fast.

Got meself one of these:

LOMO LCA+ it’s a Chinese, slightly updated version of a Russian Lomo LCA camera which i was obsessing about for at least 5 years. This one hasn’t got the original russian Minitar lens but (let’s face it) i’m not a PRO and chinese Minitar1 is good enough for me! Yay!
My first LOMO roll came out much better than i expected and having it scanned in the lab now i’m testing this:

a public beta version of Photoshop Lightroom 3 which is a brilliant photographs managing and correcting tool. I checked version 1 long time ago and it didn’t impress me enough to leave my Photoshop but having spent more time with v.3 last few days i just can’t wait ’til May when this version will be avaliable for sale! I’m going to buy it, use it and love it!

We were a bit unlucky and had no white christmas at all but… i was really lucky to make it home with only 30min delay (thank you BA for not having your cabin crew on strike).
Had a lovely time with few proper walks. Much too much food. Best bigos EVER!!! and some beautiful time in the country side where i used to spend summer holidays with my grandparents (driving them crazy and climbing trees…)
Now it’s snowing and it’s galleries time!

taxi + plane + bus + bigger plane + train + train = home
These were 2 really cool, sometimes a bit intense weeks. I’m definetely going back and hopefuly in much better shape than this time. Met some great people and really looking forward to following their proffessional paths.
As for me… hmmm… cleaned the flat, dug out my tablet, got me Miles and… oh yes… time to work on some photos!
(note to self: please buy a table)
One more thing on the Viborg note: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQFrwcr9uzw this is what one of the students’ groups did during one (!!!) week Animation Jam with Stefan and Kajsa.
